Collagen Stimulation with RADIESSE CaHA is a dermal filler that is used for smoothing crepey, aged skin on the face, neck, chest, arms, elbows, knees and abdomen, and for correcting volume loss in the back of the hands. It is also used to smooth moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds (the creases that extend from the corner of your nose to the corner of your mouth), as well as age-related volume loss in the mid-face.

FAQ

  • How does it work?

When RADIESSE is diluted beyond its normal preparation it can be spread thinly and evenly beneath the skin to stimulate production of new and healthy collagen, resulting in smoother, firmer skin. Hyperdilute CaHA injections can be used to improve the texture and appearance of crepey skin on the face, neck, chest, arms, elbows, knees, and abdomen.

  • What is CaHa?

RADIESSE contains microspheres of CaHA (calcium hydroxylapatite), a type of mineral that's found in human teeth and bones. When used in a filler, the calcium particles are tiny and suspended in a thick gel-like solution.

  • What to expect?

Hypderdilute CaHA (Radiesse) is applied beneath the skin using a blunt-tipped cannula. The  procedure utilizes lidocaine and is safe and comfortable. Bruising is not uncommon, to plan  accordingly. This collagen-inducing therapy is meant to be done in a series of injections (averaging 3) at 4-6 weeks apart. Photos will be taken before and after each session to track your success!

Botox® is a procedure that uses Botulinum Toxin to treat the visual signs of aging, by reducing or removing wrinkles. The procedure is considered a safe, effective way of treating aging skin. Common areas for Botox® injections include horizontal forehead furrows, vertical lines between the eyebrows and “crow’s feet” around the eyes. Botox® has proven to be the best non-surgical form of facial rejuvenation and is capable of producing phenomenal improvements in your appearance.

Reasons for Considering a Botox Treatment:

  • Excessive facial wrinkles.
  • Large wrinkles or furrows in your forehead.
  • Small wrinkles or “crow’s feet” around your eyes.
  • A vertical “frown line” between your eyebrows.

FAQ

  • General procedure

The procedure works by altering the facial muscles related to wrinkles. We will use a cream with local anesthetic on your skin prior to treatment, and apply ice immediately upon completion of the treatment. Typically a small amount (1-2 cc’s) of Botox or Xeomin is injected into the area of the wrinkle. The solution blocks the impulses from the nerve to the facial muscles; the underlying facial muscles relax and the skin begins to smooth out. The effects of a Botox or Xeomin treatment will last approximately three to six months, after which the patient may choose to repeat the procedure.

  • Recovery time

Patients generally return to their normal activities immediately after the procedure, however following the post-procedure guidelines will dramatically reduce the length and intensity of the recovery period. Patients should avoid engaging in heavy physical exercise, applying cosmetics, or laying down flat for a minimum of 4 hours after the injections. It is also advisable to avoid rubbing or massaging the injected area for at least 24 hours.

  • What can I expect?

After we assess your goals, our expert injector will inject the solution into specific muscles. Bruising is not typical, but can occur. It will take a few days to start to see the effects of treatment, and may take up to two weeks for full results, so plan your treatment accordingly. Toxin injections are usually given every 3-4 months; consistent treatment will lead to improved results over time.

  • What were common side effects seen in clinical studies?

In studies for forehead lines, 9% of patients experienced headache, 2% had brow drooping, and 2% had eyelid drooping. In the frown line studies, 3% of patients experienced eyelid drooping, and in the crow’s feet studies, 1% of patients experienced eyelid swelling. Other possible side effects include discomfort or pain at the injection site; headache; and eye problems: double vision, blurred vision, drooping eyelids, dry eyes, and swelling of your eyelids. These are not all of the possible serious side effects.

  • Will I look overdone?

When you are treated by a licensed, trained medical expert in facial anatomy, you should not lose the ability to show expression. You should look like you, but more relaxed and rejuvenated.  It is important to talk to your aesthetic specialist about the results you want from treatment.

Expert Technique

“This a cutting-edge application of RADIESSE injectable filler. Instead of using it to recreate volume and structure, which it is also excellent for, we are spreading a fine layer of these tiny calcium spheres throughout the skin to stimulate new collagen.” This treatment is an excellent complement to more traditional skincare services as it is treating from the inside out.
