An Arm Lift (known as brachioplasty) is a surgical procedure to improve the appearance of the under portions of your upper arms. Fluctuations in weight, aging and heredity can result in your upper arms having a droopy, saggy appearance. This is a condition that cannot be improved with exercise. During the procedure, excess skin and fat are removed between the armpit and the elbow resulting in a dramatically improved appearance and feel.

Reasons for considering an Arm Lift:

  • Significant upper arm skin laxity.
  • Define the shape of the arm.
  • To improve your overall physical comfort as well as gaining confidence.

General Procedure

During the procedure, incisions are generally placed on the inside of the upper arm or back of the arm and may extend from the underarm to just above the elbow. Excess fat is then directly excised or treated with liposuction. Incision length and pattern depend on the amount and location of excess skin, as well as the best judgement of your surgeon.

Recovery Process

Following your surgery, bandages and dressings are applied to your incisions and your arms will most likely be wrapped in a compression garment to minimize swelling. Patients sometimes report minor pain which can be treated with oral medication. While complications are rare, patients can minimize the risk of potential problems by carefully following the post-operative direction given after surgery to ensure a successful recovery.
